Lake City is a small, historic town in a valley in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Elevation is 8671 feet above sea level.
Lake City sits on two National Byways: the Alpine Loop National Back Country Byway, and the Silver Thread National Scenic Byway.
The area is surrounded by mountain peaks and wilderness, with plentiful trails for hiking, mountain biking, scenic driving with ATVs and 4x4 vehicles, motorcycling, and horseback riding. Streams and lakes are full of trout for fishing.
Lake City offers plenty of activities, especially during the summer and fall, such as live music, performing arts, shows, galleries and shopping, dining, parks, and other unique events.
